Job summary

AdventHealth Shawnee Mission is seeking a full-time Security Officer to monitor facilities, respond to alarms, and maintain a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors. You will operate radios and CCTV, perform first aid as needed, and enforce access controls in a high-stress healthcare setting.

Applicants should have a high school diploma, a valid driver’s license, and be comfortable working night shifts. BLS CPR is preferred and advancement through our safety programs is supported.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Driver's License required.
• BLS CPR preferred.
• Must read/write and follow protocols.

Responsibilities

• Performs all security-related tasks as assigned by the Supervisor.
• Responds to alarms and determines alarm source.
• Operates equipment including radios and hospital systems.
• Provides initial direction in emergencies and screens visitors after hours.
• Documents crimes, incidents and safety irregularities.
• Intercedes in disputes using de-escalation techniques.
• Administers initial first aid.
• Other duties as assigned.
