Job summary

Stony Brook Medicine is hiring a Registered Nurse for Obstetric Acute/Postpartum to join the team on the night shift. The RN will assess patients, coordinate care, develop individualized plans, and administer medications in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualified candidates possess a NYS RN license; preferred are BSN, OB experience, and certifications such as NRP and BLS. The role requires adherence to infection control and participation in quality initiatives.

Qualifications

• Must hold a license to practice as a registered nurse in New York State.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and at least one year of hospital acute care experience.
• Preferred OB experience and certifications: NRP and BLS/RNC-OB.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients and coordinate care with the health-team.
• Develop and implement a written care plan and discharge planning.
• Administer direct patient care and medications as prescribed.
• Maintain infection control and a safe environment.
• Document care and patient education in medical records.
• Communicate patient status changes to the Charge RN/Clinician.
• Participate in unit/hospital quality assurance activities.
