Job summary

University of Chicago Medicine is seeking a Staff Nurse for the 9W Hospital Medicine telemetry unit at the Hyde Park campus. This 0.9 FTE, full-time, onsite role requires Night shift availability (7pm–7:30am) and based in the greater Chicagoland area.

The RN will provide patient-centered care, develop and implement plans, and collaborate with physicians and Case Management to ensure safe transitions home or to next care setting.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an NLN accredited School of Nursing.
• Current Illinois RN license.
• Active BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).

Responsibilities

• Utilizes appropriate assessment skills to determine patient needs.
• Develops a plan of care for those patients whose needs do not require the expertise of a Case Manager or collaborates with the Case Manager to develop a plan of care for specified patients.
• Manager or collaborates with the Case Manager to develop a plan of care for specified patients.
• Assumes charge nurse responsibilities as assigned by Care Center Director or Patient Care Manager.
• Provides support to peers by assisting as needed, being a resource person and working as a team member.
• Assists Care Center in development/attainment of goals and objectives.
• Uses clinical pathways and/or plans of care incorporating standards of practice.
• Assesses own need for professional growth and development and seeks appropriate resources to meeting needs.
• Attends continuing education programs and participates in program evaluation.
