UChicago Medicine in Chicago's Hyde Park campus is seeking a Staff Nurse for the 9W Hospital Medicine telemetry unit. This 100% onsite role requires residency in the greater Chicagoland area and offers night shifts, 7pm–7:30am, with 0.9 FTE.

The Staff Nurse provides patient-centered, evidence-based care, collaborates with physicians and care teams, and supports ongoing professional development through education and performance improvement activities. Join a world-class academic health system.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an NLN accredited School of Nursing.
• Current Illinois RN license.
• Active BLS certification (AHA).
• ADN with BSN in progress within 30 months.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient needs using appropriate assessment skills.
• Develop and implement a plan of care for patients with or without Case Manager involvement.
• Assume charge nurse responsibilities as assigned by Care Center leadership.
• Provide support to peers by assisting as needed and working as a team member.
• Attend continuing education programs and participate in program evaluation.

Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system, University of Chicago Medicine, as a Staff Nurse in the 9 West General Medicine department at our Hyde Park campus. This position is a 100% onsite opportunity. You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area.

This department is an 28-bed telemetry unit that cares for patients during their acute needs while anticipating their transition to home, sub-acute rehab, or another skilled facility. A staff nurse is a registered professional nurse (RN) who manages patient centered care that is outcome directed. Patient centered care principles and professional nursing practice standards provide the foundation for the nurse to assess, plan, implement and evaluate the care provided. The staff nurse assumes the primary responsibility and accountability for all patient care personally provided and that provided by those directly under her/his supervision.

Essential Job Functions

• Utilizes appropriate assessment skills to determine patient needs.
• Develops a plan of care for those patients whose needs do not require the expertise of a Case Manager or collaborates with the Case Manager to develop a plan of care for specified patients.
• Manager or collaborates with the Case Manager to develop a plan of care for specified patients.
• Assumes charge nurse responsibilities as assigned by Care Center Director or Patient Care Manager.
• Provides support to peers by assisting as needed, being a resource person and working as a team member.
• Assists Care Center in development/attainment of goals and objectives.
• Uses clinical pathways and/or plans of care incorporating standards of practice.
• Assesses own need for professional growth and development and seeks appropriate resources to meeting needs.
• Attends continuing education programs and participates in program evaluation.

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an NLN accredited School of Nursing.
• Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Associate Degree Nurses are required to enroll in a BSN program within six (6) to nine (9) months of hire, and make progress toward and complete their BSN degree within 30 months. ADN nurses receive 100% tuition reimbursement towards a BSN degree from an accredited program.
• Current Illinois RN license
• Active BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)

UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits. The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.

The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
