Job summary

UChicago Medicine's 8E Neurology/Neurosurgery unit at Hyde Park is seeking a Staff Nurse (RN) to join our on-site team for a 0.6 FTE night shift. The role emphasizes patient-centered care within a busy 28-bed unit serving acute needs and facilitating transitions to home or rehab facilities.

The RN will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care while collaborating with Case Management and caring for patients under the supervision of the Care Center Director.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an NLN accredited School of Nursing.
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• ADN nurses enroll in BSN within 6–9 months and complete BSN within 30 months; ADN nurses receive 100% tuition reimbursement toward BSN from an accredited program.
• Current RN Illinois license.
• Active BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).

Responsibilities

• Utilizes appropriate assessment skills to determine patient needs.
• Develops a plan of care and collaborates with the Case Manager to develop a plan of care for specified patients.
• Assumes charge nurse responsibilities as assigned by Care Center Director or Patient Care Manager.
• Provides support to peers by assisting as needed, being a resource person and working as a team member.
• Attends continuing education programs and participates in program evaluation.
