Job summary

UofL Health, Inc. is seeking a Hospital-Based Registered Nurse for the Medical Center East, ED, nights (7 PM–7 AM) in Louisville, KY.

The role emphasizes leadership, patient safety, and collaborative care across age groups, with a strong focus on evidence-based practice and family-centered care. Requirements include an Associate’s Degree in Nursing, KY RN license, and BLS; BSN preferred with a Nurse Residency program for new grads.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program is required.
• All new-hire Associate Degree Registered Nurses are required to start an approved BSN program within one year and complete within three years.
• Current KY RN licensure or compact license with privileges to work in Kentucky is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) may be required for specific units.
• Two years of hospital patient care experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct systematic assessments of patient health status from admission to discharge across the care continuum.
• Independently administer medications per licensure and document administration per policy.
• Plan care with patient and family using current scientific knowledge and nursing standards.
• Implement nursing interventions to meet patient and family health care needs and safety goals.
• Educate patients and families, assess learning needs, and evaluate outcomes of teaching.
• Collaborate with the care team to ensure continuity of care and appropriate handoffs.
