Job summary

UnityPoint Health is seeking a remote monitoring technician for night shifts in Des Moines, IA. The role provides continuous observation of at-risk patients using patient monitoring software and a 2-way audio device, with 16 hours per week and rotation across weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities include maintaining constant observation, de-escalation, and reporting to the RN team, while supporting basic safety and daily living activities in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Familiarity with healthcare environment preferred; basic computer skills required.
• Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates understanding and proficiency of the patient monitoring software while functioning as a remote monitoring technician.
• Maintains visual observation at all times; verbally redirects patient via 2-way audio from the room.
• Provides 1:1 direct observation to prevent self-harm or injury.
• Assists RN with patient care per treatment plan as delegated.
• Seeks help when patient poses threat to self or others.
• Participates in unit hand-offs and shift change communications.
• Ensures continuous observation and reports safety hazards.
