Job summary

MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center is seeking a Patient Safety Attendant to provide continuous observation and a safe environment for patients on the 12-hour night shift. You will redirect at-risk behavior, notify nursing staff, and document caregiver information as part of the care team.

Qualifications include a high school diploma, BLS certification within 3 months, and completion of mandatory reporter training.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma preferred.
• Proof of completion of Dependent Adult and Child Mandatory Reporter abuse training within three (3) months of hire
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certified or obtained within three (3) months of hire.
• Previous work in a hospital or a college student in medical discipline helpful

Responsibilities

• Provide continuous observation and surveillance of assigned patients.
• Verbally redirect the patient from at risk behaviors and notify staff as needed.
• Immediately summon nursing staff if the patient requires assistance.
• Document on Observation Flow Sheet and assist licensed nursing staff with cares as delegated.
• Participate in hand-offs of pertinent information at shift change.
