Job summary

Jobtailor in Sleepy Eye, MN is seeking a Quality Assurance Lab Technician to collect samples for analysis and perform chemical and physical tests on products, ingredients, and controls in accordance with GMP and plant procedures.

You will record results, maintain equipment, and provide written reports to QA leadership. The ideal candidate has GMP training, strong math skills, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to accuracy and timely feedback to production.

  • Tasks must be completed in a timely manner to provide rapid feedback on product quality.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and distribute samples for analysis.
  • Perform chemical and physical analyses per procedures; anticipate results.
  • Record all analyses per lab protocols; avoid falsification.
  • Communicate critical results clearly; handwriting must be legible.
  • Clean and maintain lab equipment; tidy lab area after shift.
  • Follow GMP and safety procedures.
  • Provide written reports when requested by QA Manager or QA Leader.
  • Support QA by collecting environmental samples and pest control records as needed.
  • Cover lab duties in absence of QA Leader.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Collects samples for analysis and distributes them appropriately
  • Performs chemical and physical analysis (including flavor checks) on product, ingredient and control samples according to laboratory procedures; needs to understand the concepts of each analysis, anticipate the result and follow through on any deviation
  • Records all product analysis according to laboratory protocols including data entry on a computer system; falsifying a QC record will result in disciplinary action
  • Communicates effectively all critical information regarding analysis, procedures, and test results; handwriting must be clearly legible
  • Must clean and maintain all equipment/materials used; cleans up the lab area at the end of shift
  • Follows all laboratory and plant GMP and safety procedures according to company guidelines
  • Provides written reports when requested by Quality Assurance Manager and/or QA Leader
  • General plant QA responsibilities may include (but are not limited to): collection and distribution of product and ingredient samples, collection of environmental samples, maintaining insect lights and pest boxes
  • Covers all lab responsibilities during the absence of the Quality Assurance Leader
  • Performs all other duties as requested by management staff
Requirements
  • Required to have attended Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) training and follow all mandates
  • Must possess ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram formMust be able to work independently to organize tasks and manage the workload
  • Must possess ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations
  • Must be able to do mathematical calculations
  • Lab performance will be evaluated on an annual basis; it is essential that all tests be run correctly and accurately
  • After completion of four weeks training, must be able to perform all procedures accurately, precisely, and efficiently; results must be accurate; not adhering to the accuracy limits outlined in Diehl SOPs (existing, new and any subsequent revision) will result in dismissal from this position.
  • Duties must be executed in a timely manner, so production personnel receive rapid feedback on product quality; failure to complete tasks correctly and on time will result in dismissal from this position.
