Job summary

Indiana University Health in Indianapolis is seeking a PT Night Unit Assistant who provides a blend of direct patient care under the supervision of a Clinical Nurse and essential unit clerical support.

You will keep the patient area clean, assist with scheduling tests, maintain records, sign patients in and out, and help with equipment as needed, including continuous observation when required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; CPR may be required to complete Unit Secretary training.
• Requires prior acute patient care experience or completion of IU Health PCA education program.
• Current Basic Life Support certification through the AHA, or completion of the IU Health PCA program.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care under the direction of a Clinical Nurse.
• Provides support to the patient care team with unit clerical duties and patient records.
• May schedule tests and procedures for the patient and sign patients in and out of the unit.
• Maintains a clean and orderly patient environment and assists physicians, patients, families, customers and vendors.
• May provide continuous observation including suicide prevention when required.
