Job summary

UChicago Medicine is seeking a Polysomnographic Technician to join the Sleep Lab at our Hyde Park campus. The role is a 100% onsite position with nights, focused on patient preparation, test performance and preliminary reporting to physicians.

Candidates must have a high school diploma and pursue RPSGT/RST certification within a year; CPR certification is required. Experience with polysomnography, CPAP titrations, and related equipment is essential for success.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required; completion of preparation modules for a registration certificate in Polysomnographic Technology (RPSGT or RST).
• CPR certification required.
• RPSGT or RST certification within one year of hire.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist also qualifies.
• Knowledge of polysomnography, CPAP/BiPAP titrations, sleep disorders, MSLTs, O2/CO2, patient education, and troubleshooting equipment.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine polysomnograms.
• Performs CPAP/BiPAP titrations.
• Explain procedures and prepare patient for tests.
• Obtain patient information and history.
• Obtain special montage recordings during night evaluations with assistance.
• Interpret recordings and write informal preliminary reports.
• Use video-monitoring equipment for nocturnal recordings.
• Calibrate equipment and maintain cleanliness.
• Score sleep records and support Sleep Lab operations.
