Job summary

Prime Healthcare at Riverview Regional Medical Center in Gadsden, AL, seeks a Phlebotomy Technician I (Nights) to perform blood draws, ensure proper patient identification and labeling, and transport specimens to the lab for testing.

The role requires a High School diploma, BLS within 45 days of hire, and ideally 2+ years in a clinical laboratory. Hours are 5:00 PM–5:30 AM, with every other weekend and holiday work.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• BLS certification within 45 days of hire and maintained current.
• Minimum of two (2) years of clinical laboratory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for blood draws, explain procedures, and ensure comfort and safety throughout the process.
• Conduct blood collection using venipuncture, capillary puncture, or other techniques with proper identification and labeling of specimens.
• Organize, handle, and transport specimens to the laboratory for testing and proper processing and storage.
• Adhere to quality control and safety protocols to maintain specimen integrity and accurate test results.
• Maintain and calibrate phlebotomy equipment and supplies, ensure proper sanitation and functioning.
• Perform more complex phlebotomy procedures as required, often with minimal supervision.
