Qualifications

• Phlebotomy and related duties in hospital and outpatient settings.
• Proficiency with LIS Accessioning and reference lab send-outs preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; one year of full-time experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy (venipuncture, fingerstick, heelstick, bleeding time) per procedure.
• Identifies patients and labels specimen tubes accurately.
• Determines priority of STAT draws and ensures timely transport to lab for testing.
• Utilizes computers to complete assigned tasks and maintains workload statistics.
• Trains new employees and interns under supervision as needed.
• Follows safety policies and exposure control plans; participates in safety training.
• Acts as receptionist in outpatient lab when required and maintains cleanliness.
• Performs electrocardiograms as part of duties.
