Job summary

Qualifications

• Completion of a phlebotomy program or equivalent training.
• 1–2 years of experience in a laboratory, healthcare, or clinical setting.
• H.S. Diploma or GED required.
• Experience with specimen processing and quality control procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assists laboratory staff in performing routine tests following proper laboratory protocols.
• Prepares and processes specimens with proper labeling, storage, and transport.
• Maintains laboratory equipment and reports malfunctions.
• Performs finger sticks, venipunctures, and heel sticks on patients of all ages.
• Ensures compliance with safety and infection control standards.
• Logs lab procedures and specimen information into LIS.
• Performs QC and QA tasks, supporting documentation and regulatory compliance.
• Stocks supplies and maintains inventory.
• Cleans and disinfects work surfaces and spaces.
• Supports data collection and process improvement initiatives.
• Collaborates with providers and departments to ensure efficient workflow.
• Ensures accurate patient identification using two identifiers.
• Collects timed specimens as ordered.
• Maintains regular attendance and compliance with policies.
