Job summary

Qualifications

  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families and health care staff.
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of sanitation and health hazards.
  • Ability to work well with others in a health care setting.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, instruments and supplies.
  • Ability to enter and maintain patient data accurately.

Responsibilities

  • Independently obtain and record vital signs including temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.
  • Perform phlebotomy, catheter care and aseptic tasks as directed by the nurse.
  • Assist with admissions, transfers and discharges.
  • Provide for patient comfort and personal hygiene needs.
  • Move and transport patients and supplies as needed.
  • Contribute to care conferences and report pertinent information.
  • Maintain equipment and supplies, and ensure unit cleanliness.
