Job summary

University of Iowa Health Care in Iowa City is seeking a Patient Care Technician to assist nursing staff in inpatient and outpatient care. The role requires familiarity with a wide range of nursing procedures and patient care tasks, including vital signs, hygiene, and patient transport.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Independently obtain and record vital signs including temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.
• Perform phlebotomy, catheter care and aseptic tasks as directed by the nurse.
• Assist with admissions, transfers and discharges.
• Provide for patient comfort and personal hygiene needs.
• Move and transport patients and supplies as needed.
• Contribute to care conferences and report pertinent information.
• Maintain equipment and supplies, and ensure unit cleanliness.
