Job summary

The University of Iowa Health Care seeks a Patient Care Technician for the 3W Medical Inpatient unit at Downtown Campus. This 60% nights role supports the nursing team in delivering patient care across in-patient and out-patient areas.

Under supervision, you will perform vital signs, basic nursing tasks, transports, hygiene, and comfort, while maintaining confidentiality and safety. The position offers competitive benefits and on-campus scheduling.

Qualifications

• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families and health care staff.
• Ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, instruments and supplies.

Responsibilities

• Independently obtain and record vital signs including temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.
• Perform simple diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as directed.
• Assist with patient admission, transfers, and discharges.
• Provide for patient comfort and personal hygiene.
• Transport patients, equipment, specimens, and supplies.
• Participate in nursing care conferences and report pertinent information.
