Job summary

Hiawatha Valley Mental Health Center is seeking an On-Call Crisis Response Practitioner for overnight hours to provide crisis assessment, intervention and stabilization services for mental health and substance use crises across SE Minnesota. The role requires on-call evenings/weekends, travel as needed, and a vehicle.

Qualifications

• Must meet minimum qualifications as a Mental Health Practitioner as outlined in MN Statute 245i.04: Sec. 245I.04 MN Statutes.
• Experience with individuals that have had significantly reduced levels of functioning in daily living.
• Strong planning, organization and communication skills (oral and written) as well as problem solving.
• Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to SE MN.

Responsibilities

• Be on-call evenings and weekends as scheduled.
• Respond to on-call crisis calls and assess the situation for follow-up.
• Provide support and utilize active listening skills.
• Stay with individuals in a crisis bed setting or in their homes.
• Develop plans to restore prior functioning.
• Attend monthly On-Call Crisis Team meetings.
• Available to work irregular hours and be flexible with scheduling.
• Complete the On-Call Crisis Training.
• Possess a vehicle, valid driver license, and valid auto insurance.
