Job summary

WellSpan York Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Assistant for the 4 Main telemetry unit. The role provides clinical support to patient care staff, performs vitals, assists with activities of daily living, and supports telemetry operations including EKGs and point-of-care testing.

Responsibilities include hourly rounds, safety duties, and training new staff while ensuring supplies and equipment are stocked and ready for patient care needs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Less than 1 year relevant experience required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) upon hire required.
• Certified Nurse Aide upon hire preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides general nursing care and personal care assistance to patients, including activities of daily living and removal of peripheral IVs and indwelling urinary catheter.
• Monitors patient condition levels; reports changes to the registered nurse.
• Maintains patient safety through hourly rounds and safety protocols.
• Records vital signs and transports patients for tests and procedures.
• Trains and precepts new employees.
• Performs Point-of-Care testing and maintains quality control records.
• Collects specimens and performs EKGs; transmits studies.
• Stocks and maintains supplies and equipment on the unit.
