Job summary

Cook County Health & Hospitals System is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist for the Night shift (11:00pm - 7:00am) in the Hematopathology department. The MLS will perform high complexity testing across multiple sections, guide staff, and help develop procedures while ensuring regulatory compliance.

The role requires a scientific bachelor’s degree, CLIA qualification, MLS/MT/GS certification, and at least one year of post-certification experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field; official transcripts required.
• Must qualify as a Medical Technologist by CLIA; proof at interview.
• National certification as MLS/MT/GS with proof at interview.
• One year post-certification experience in two lab sections required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to work rotating shifts including weekends.

Responsibilities

• Perform high complexity testing in all laboratory sections.
• Provide training and direction to MLS, technologists and staff.
• Develop and implement new methods and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with government and regulatory standards.
• Manage quality controls and data reporting.
