Job summary

Merit Health River Region in Vicksburg, MS seeks a Mental Health Worker I in the Emergency Department. This full-time night shift (7pm–7am) with rotating weekends and holidays delivers patient support under licensed staff and participates in the interdisciplinary team.

Responsibilities include assisting with activities of daily living, maintaining supplies, following infection control, responding to requests, and helping with de-escalation and crisis intervention.

Qualifications

• 0-2 years of experience as a patient care assistant in a mental health hospital setting required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure supplies and equipment for patient care are readily available and organized.
• Respond to patient and family requests promptly.
• Accurately monitors and records patient information, test results and stats.
• Assists with activities of daily living and hygiene.
• Follows patient care policies, sterile technique and skin care protocols.
• De-escalate patients and respond to Code White alerts.
• Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
