Job summary

Community Health Systems, Inc. in Mississippi seeks a Night Shift Mental Health Worker I to support the emergency department team at Merit Health River Region in Vicksburg.

You will work 7pm–7am with rotating weekends and holidays, providing patient care and coordination alongside licensed staff. The role requires 0-2 years of mental health patient care experience, BCLS certification, and de-escalation training, with duties covering daily living support, safety, and documentation.

Qualifications

• 0-2 years of experience as a patient care assistant in a mental health hospital setting required

Responsibilities

• Ensures supplies and equipment for patient care are readily available and organized.
• Correctly identifies and uses appropriately personal protective equipment.
• Responds to patient and family requests promptly.
• Accurately monitors and records patient information, test results and stats.
• Provides care to assigned patients including activities of daily living and non-medication pain management.
• Follows patient care policies, practices and protocols.
• Assists with personal hygiene and elimination needs.
• Maintains clean linen and towels at shift start and as needed.
• Answers call system promptly and intervenes appropriately.
• Cleans equipment as directed.
• Ensures continuity of professional care and participates in program development and process improvement.
• Performs crisis intervention and restrains violent patients when needed; responds to Code White alerts.
