Job summary

South Sound Behavioral Hospital in Lacey, WA is seeking a Mental Health Technician (MHT)/Security to join our compassionate treatment team. This full-time night-shift role provides direct support, safety oversight, and crisis intervention for clients in a trauma-informed, therapeutic environment.

You will monitor client behavior, conduct safety rounds, assist with admissions and discharges, record vital signs, and participate in CPI-based crisis intervention and MHT-led groups.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred; CNA preferred; Degree in social work, psychology, human services or related therapeutic field.
• Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration preferred.
• One year of related experience with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques.
• Overtime and flexible hours may be required.

Responsibilities

• Monitor client behavior and safety rounds.
• Assist with admissions, searches, room checks, and client monitoring.
• Record vital signs accurately.
• Follow treatment team interventions and provide information for care planning.
• Employ crisis-intervention techniques and lead MHT groups.
• Assist patients through discharge and personal care.
• Maintain a safe, clean environment with universal precautions.
• Participate in emergency response procedures as needed.
