The role emphasizes accurate result reporting, quality assurance, and adherence to universal precautions while supporting ongoing maintenance and evaluation of instrumentation.

The position requires a clinical lab degree and ASCP certification eligibility; experience is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Education: Baccalaureate or Associate Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or related field.
• Licensure/Certification: Certification from ASCP, eligible for certification.
• If applicable, must maintain active certification.
• Experience: Preferred, but not required.
• Effective Communication Skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs all clinical testing in assigned department.
• Records and reports test results accurately and promptly.
• Performs and interprets quality control testing following established guidelines.
• Maintains a high level of quality assurance.
• Practices established safety procedures, including Universal Precautions and proper use of safety equipment.
• Recognizes problems by following strategies and makes necessary corrections.
• Consults with supervisor/manager when no criteria for decisions are present; acts to determine final decision.
• Coordinates and evaluates new reagents, procedures and equipment as requested by supervisor/manager.
• Performs routine scheduled and specialized maintenance of laboratory equipment.
