Job summary

Indiana Veterans' Home is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for night shifts in the Nursing Department. You will perform nursing care within Indiana Nurse Practice Act, under supervision, and may direct nurse aides per unit needs.

Responsibilities include administering medications, documenting care, and participating in care planning, while maintaining HIPAA compliance and resident rights. Night shift duties also involve coordinating with physicians and supporting staff on the unit.

Qualifications

• Must be licensed as and maintain licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Indiana; must maintain first aid, mantoux and CPR certification.
• Ability to understand and communicate with residents; follow nursing forms and instructions; prioritize workload.

Responsibilities

• Administers medications and treatments according to established standards.
• Documents medications, treatments, and nursing notes.
• Assists with resident care planning and updates care plans and aide assignments.
• Performs resident assessments and reports findings to the physician.
• Directs nursing aides on the unit when required.
• Responds to call lights and residents' requests for assistance.
• Ensures infection control and HIPAA compliance.
• Schedules and assists with physician, optometrist, podiatrist and dentist visits.
• Provides unit orientation for new staff.
