Job summary

AdventHealth Ocala Laboratory is seeking a dedicated lab tech to support cytology-related tasks, specimen processing, and quality control. The role involves phlebotomy, sample transport, and coordination with clinical staff in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate has phlebotomy training, strong English communication, and proficiency with basic computer systems; safety and infection control are essential, with attention to confidentiality and teamwork across shifts.

Qualifications

• High School Grad or Equivalent required.
• Phlebotomy training program or certification preferred.
• Ability to read/understand English; basic math and data entry skills.
• Phlebotomy and specimen handling experience desirable.
• Experience with lab safety policies and PPE use preferred.

Responsibilities

• May perform cytopreparatory staining and prepare specimens.
• May receive and set up primary specimen cultures.
• Maintain equipment cleaning and inventory control.
• Participate in performance improvement activities and education for staff.
• Provide customer service resolution within guidelines.
