Job summary

Universal Health Services, Inc. and its Southeast Behavioral Hospital are seeking an Intake Assessor to perform telephonic and in-person risk assessments, coordinating referrals and admissions for patients in the Cape Girardeau area.

The role supports physicians in determining the appropriate level of care while interfacing with families, referral sources, and the treatment team. Qualified candidates have a nursing or social work background, 2–3 years in behavioral health or substance abuse

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited program of professional nursing or social work; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • 2–3 years in substance abuse/psychiatric treatment programs; intake/admissions and managed care preferred.
  • Currently licensed to practice by the Missouri State Board of Nursing or a Social Work Licensure.
  • CPR certification, Handle with Care and Verbal De-Escalation training within 30 days of employment; competency exam on hire.
  • May be required to work flexible hours, weekends, and overtime.

Qualifications
POSITION SUMMARY:

The Intake Assessor, under the supervision of the Intake Director, provides telephonic and in-person risk assessment to assist the physician in identification of appropriate level of care for potential patients. The Intake Assessor is the initial contact with referral sources and potential patients, coordinates the referral and intake process, facilitates the admission process and maintains communication with referral sources, families, patients, and unit staff. The Intake Assessor works with the Business Office regarding patient financial data and verification and prior authorization of insurance benefits as needed, as well as with the UR Department for the certification of patients admitted.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Graduate from an accredited program of professional nursing or social work required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
Experience: 2-3 years in substance abuse/psychiatric treatment programs, including experience in intake/admissions and managed care preferred.
Licensure: Currently licensed to practice by the Missouri State Board of Nursing or a Social Work Licensure
Additional Requirements: CPR certification, Handle with Care and Verbal De-Escalation training within 30 days of employment prior to assisting in a restraining procedure. Must be able to pass a competency exam for the area upon hire. May be required to work flexible hours, weekends, and overtime.
