Job summary

Southeastern Freight Lines in Fort Smith, AR is seeking a FT Inbound Freight Handler. You will load and unload freight, prepare trailers, and use forklifts to move goods safely. You will weigh and inspect shipments, review bills and manifests, and ensure proper handling of hazardous materials where needed.

Applicants should have a High School Diploma or GED, be able to pass a background and drug test, and ideally bring forklift or warehouse experience and a forklift certification.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Must be able to pass a background check and an alcohol/drug test.
• Prior experience as Forklift Operator, Dock or Warehouse Worker, or Material Handler preferred.
• Forklift Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight onto and off equipment.
• Prepare, sweep, inspect and clean trailers before loading.
• Weigh and dimension shipments for proper classification and handling.
• Plan cube utilization and weight distribution when loading freight.
• Count and inspect freight, noting shortages or damage.
• Review freight bills and manifests for instructions and exceptions.
• Verify hazardous material descriptions and placarding where applicable.
• Block and brace freight to prevent shifting during transport.
