MedVet in New Orleans area seeks a Veterinary Technician for our Nursing & ICU team. The role emphasizes patient monitoring, anesthesia support, and client education within an emergency and specialty setting. Candidates should have veterinary experience and be comfortable with fast-paced shifts.

Proficiency in drug calculations and IV catheter handling is essential. Night shifts are Tue, Thu, Fri and Sat 9p–7a, with opportunities for continued education and advancement at MedVet.

Qualifications

• State Registered Veterinary Technician license preferred.
• Prior veterinary experience required; nursing or critical care experience desired.
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, CRI, unit conversions).

Responsabilités

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather additional information as necessary.
• Evaluating incoming patients and prioritizing based on assessment.
• Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication and nursing care concerns.
• Provide client education including home care instructions, medications and general wellness updates on hospitalized patients.
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures.
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients.
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures.
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing.
