Job summary

MercyOne Trinity Health in Des Moines, IA, is seeking an ICU RN for the night shift to provide high-acuity care and lead care coordination with the multidisciplinary team.

You will perform initial assessments, develop and implement patient care plans, monitor and document outcomes, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance during 12-hour night shifts. Candidates must hold an Iowa RN license and advanced certifications such as ACLS and BLS; cross-state licensure may apply.

Qualifications

• Associate degree required, BSN preferred.
• No experience required; critical care nursing experience preferred.
• Current Iowa RN license, (current IL license if working in IL).
• BLS, ACLS within 12 months of hire.
• Cardiac monitoring course or advanced Critical Care training.
• NVCI training within 6 months of hire.
• Basic computer skills and ability to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Assessment & Planning: Performs initial and ongoing patient assessments; develops individualized, outcome-based plans of care.
• Care Implementation: Coordinates and delivers patient care, delegating tasks and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams.
• Evaluation & Documentation: Reassesses patients, updates care plans, and documents thoroughly.
• Communication: Communicates patient status and care needs across teams and during shift transitions.
• Clinical Competence: Follows protocols, administers medications safely, and demonstrates required system proficiency.
• ECMO Management: Provides advanced care for ECMO patients when applicable.
• Age-Appropriate Care: Delivers care based on developmental stages and patient age needs.
• Safety & Compliance: Follows infection control, safety procedures, and regulatory standards.
