Job summary

Kroger in Issaquah, WA is seeking a department leader to create an outstanding customer experience through service excellence and a safe, clean environment. You will supervise all department duties and support daily Grocery operations.

You will implement the Customer 1st strategy, lead associates, manage scheduling, help plan promotions, monitor expenses, and ensure compliance with food safety. This role offers growth within a large nationwide grocer.

Qualifications

• Basic math skills (counting, addition, subtraction)
• Ability to handle stressful situations
• Grocery experience (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Promote trust and respect among associates.
• Communicate information to associates.
• Collaborate with associates and promote teamwork to achieve store goals.
• Establish department performance goals and empower associates to meet or exceed targets.
• Develop adequate scheduling to manage customer volume.
• Train and develop associates and participate in performance appraisals.
• Adhere to all laws and company guidelines.
• Know products sold and respond to questions with suggestions.
• Offer samples to help customers discover new items.
• Inform customers of grocery specials.
• Develop and implement a department business plan to achieve results.
• Create and execute sales promotions with store management.
• Prepare seasonal critiques for the supervisor.
• Implement period promotional plans for the department.
• Stay current with ads and promotions.
• Monitor and control department expenses.
• Assist with budgeting and financial reports.
• Maintain inventory awareness and address discrepancies.
• Plan and supervise inventory processes.
• Train staff on inventory and POS ordering.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and temperature logs.
• Ensure safe operation of equipment and report repairs.
• Report safety risks or issues to management.
• Work cooperatively in a high-paced environment.
• Handle conflicts professionally.
• Maintain honesty and integrity in customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek help to resolve issues.
• Assist customers including minors and seniors when needed.
