Job summary

Kroger in Seattle is seeking a Department Manager to lead daily grocery operations, ensure safety and cleanliness, and deliver outstanding customer service. You will direct department duties, supervise staff, and support budgeting and merchandising initiatives.

The role emphasizes teamwork, compliance with regulations, and development of associates in a fast-paced environment. This position is full-time and on-site at our Seattle store.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Any management experience is required.
• One year of grocery retail experience is desired.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to food safety regulations and maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers; keep temperature logs.
• Report safety risks and illegal activities and notify management of accidents.
• Train department associates on inventory/stocking and CAO.
• Plan, organize and supervise the inventory process.
• Schedule price changes and update shelf tags and promos.
• Monitor inventory conditions and note discrepancies.
• Assist management with budget, P&L reviews, and financial reports.
• Control department expenses and monitor promotions.
• Stay informed about ads and implement the promotional plan.
• Prepare seasonal critiques for the sales and merchandising supervisor.
• Create and execute sales promotions with store management.
• Know the store layout and product locations and respond to questions.
• Possess knowledge of products and provide recommendations.
• Follow all laws and company guidelines.
• Train and develop associates and conduct performance reviews.
• Schedule to handle customer volume during operating hours.
• Promote teamwork and communicate information to associates.
• Supervise and coach direct reports and provide feedback.
• Work well under pressure and resolve conflicts constructively.
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek help to resolve issues.
• Provide support to minors, people with special needs, and older adults.
• Perform essential duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
