Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking a dock associate to transport freight across the dock area to and from trailers for loading. You will operate forklifts and manual equipment to move pallets, verify freight documentation, and secure loads inside trailers.

Starting rate is $25.64 per hour with a pay range up to $30.55. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, are at least 18, and have warehousing or forklift experience; ability to lift up to 100 pounds and work early shifts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Prior warehousing, freight handling and/or forklift operations experience preferred.
• Hostler/yard mule duties experience preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight of varying weights several times a week, up to ~100 pounds.
• Ability to bend, twist, squat, pushing/pulling freight throughout shift.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team member.
• Previous dock/warehouse experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform freight handling using motorized and manual equipment (forklift, pallet jack, hand truck).
• Verify freight documentation matches description (type, weight, hazardous materials).
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, rope, and other supplies.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
• Comply with laws, regulations and company policies/procedures.
• Perform other duties as required.
