Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a dock worker in Nitro, West Virginia to move freight between dock areas and trailers and operate equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.

The position offers a starting pay of $20.16 per hour with a night shift from 11:30 PM to 3:30 AM. Applicants should be at least 18, possess a high school diploma or equivalent if possible, and be able to lift and maneuver heavy freight safely and accurately.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in warehousing or freight handling preferred.
• Experience with forklift operations preferred.
• If hostler/yard mule duties required, experience preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight up to 100 lbs and dock doors up to 75 lbs, several times per day.

Responsibilities

• Transport freight across dock area to/from trailers.
• Operate forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck.
• Verify freight documentation matches description.
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight as needed.
• Verify and complete required documentation.
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
• Comply with laws, regulations, and company policies.
• Perform other duties as required.
