Job summary

Forward Air is seeking a Forklift Operator to safely load, unload, and move freight in a multimodal terminal. You will operate sit-down/stand-up forklifts and related MHE, scan cargo, and ensure accurate documentation while maintaining safety.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of dock or warehouse experience required.
• Valid forklift certification/licensure or ability to obtain before operating equipment.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing.
• Ability to recognize numbers, labels, barcodes, and freight markings; basic arithmetic.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight using sit-down/stand-up forklifts and other MHE; use pallet jacks and carts as needed.
• Move, stage, sort, and position freight between dock doors, trailers, and designated warehouse areas.
• Pick, pack, and prepare items for shipping and delivery.
• Assist drivers with loading/unloading following dock and safety procedures.
• Label, scan, and track freight to ensure accuracy and documentation integrity.
• Identify damaged freight and promptly report issues to supervision.
• Maintain a clean, safe dock environment and comply with PPE and OSHA requirements.
• Learn equipment operation and safety protocols; mentor developing team members.
• Support dock productivity and scenario-based problem resolution; work nights/weekends as needed.
• Act in lead capacity when required and serve as SME on dock operations.
