Job summary

York Container Company Midwest in Gilberts (Elgin area) is seeking a Forklift Truck Operator for the 3rd shift (10 pm – 6 am). The role moves corrugated materials and finished products, ensuring safe material flow and adherence to safety/quality standards.

Responsibilities include forklift operation, pre-operation inspections, material staging, and accurate shipment preparation. Requires 18+, valid work authorization in the U.S., and successful certification.

Qualifications

• Prior work experience in a manufacturing facility or fast-paced environment.
• Experience operating forklift/clamp truck in manufacturing or warehouse settings.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
• Must be at least 18 years old and able to pass background and drug screen.
• Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic measurements.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate forklifts and clamp trucks after certification.
• Perform pre-operation inspections and report issues.
• Move corrugated materials and finished goods between areas.
• Supply converting machines with materials to maintain production.
• Load trailers and stage pallets for shipment.
• Prepare and verify shipment documents and inventory records.
