Job summary

City of Hope is seeking a versatile Clinical Nurse for its Float Pool, specializing in cancer treatment. You will provide skilled care across inpatient units, including BMT, Hematology, and PACU, with 12-hour night shifts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in nursing is required.
• Current California RN license.
• Minimum of three (3) years related experience; oncology nursing preferred.
• BLS CPR Card through American Heart Association.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized plans of care.
• Monitor and respond promptly to changes in patient condition.
• Provide immediate post-anesthesia care including airway management and pain control.
• Care for critically ill patients requiring advanced hemodynamic monitoring and ventilation.
• Assess and manage oncology-related urgent care conditions such as febrile neutropenia and sepsis.
• Administer medications, blood products, and IV therapies.
• Initiate and maintain central venous access devices (PICC, ports, central lines).
• Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care.
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans and discharge instructions.
• Document assessments, interventions, patient responses, and outcomes.
• Participate in rapid response events and emergency stabilization.
• Float between departments based on daily needs.
• Maintain compliance with infection prevention standards and policies.
