Job summary

Grand Rapids Community College seeks a dedicated custodian to maintain campus facilities, open and secure buildings, monitor alarm systems, and support operations across college buildings.

The 40-hour weekly night shift (Mon-Fri, 10:00 PM–6:30 AM) offers hands-on cleaning, snow removal, and facility maintenance with on-the-job training available. Reports to Building Manager; GRCC provides full-time benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• On‑the‑job training available; commercial cleaning experience in educational environment preferred
• Strong reliability and punctuality required

Responsibilities

• Clean hardwood surfaces
• Clean carpeting and upholstery
• Clean terrazzo and tile/linoleum floors
• Clean restrooms, stairwells, classrooms, offices, etc.
• Order supplies/cleaning products
• Replace fluorescent tubes and bulbs
• Snow removal
• Open and secure facilities
• Identify chemicals and cleaning fluids for appropriate tasks
• Be able to work a flexible schedule based on building requirements
• Operate pallet jack and scissors lift
• Drive a vehicle
• Regular attendance during normal scheduled hours is required.
