Job summary

University Health KC is seeking an Environmental Services Technician to join UH Truman Medical Center on a part-time basis. The shift runs from 10:30 PM to 7:00 AM, totaling about 24 hours per week, ensuring a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

You will follow established cleaning procedures, move furniture as needed, operate floor-care equipment, and observe infection-control guidelines.

Qualifications

• Communication skills to interact with staff, patients and visitors.
• Physical ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly.
• Knowledge of cleaning and floor-care equipment operation.
• Be ready to complete a competency assessment after training/mentoring within 30–60 days.
• Attention to detail to ensure cleanliness and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning & Service: follow procedures to clean and service hospital areas from patient rooms to common spaces.
• Furniture & Equipment Moves: move furniture, equipment, and supplies as needed to set up spaces for hospital functions.
• Safety & Sanitation: maintain cleanliness following infection control standards and safety procedures.
• Operating Equipment: use floor care equipment to keep floors spotless.
• Chemical Safety: read labels and use cleaning chemicals safely.
