Job summary

VCA AVCC is seeking a Registered Veterinary Technician (CVT) for an overnight, full-time emergency role. You will triage and monitor ICU patients, assist veterinarians in exams and procedures, perform venipuncture and IV catheter placement, administer fluids and medications, and help with diagnostic imaging and lab work.

Qualifications

• CVT (or internship) credential required or in training.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.

Responsibilities

• Triage patients and perform initial assessments including vital signs.
• Venipuncture and IV catheter placement.
• Administer fluids, medications, and treatments per veterinary orders.
• Collaborate with veterinary team to ensure optimal patient care.
• Monitor ICU patients and report changes to the team.
• Provide clear discharge instructions to clients.
• Maintain accurate medical records and assist with cost estimates.
• Monitor anesthesia and assist with procedures.
• Operate diagnostic imaging equipment as needed and assist with radiographs.
• Perform laboratory tests (CBC, Chemistry, UA, etc.) and communicate results to veterinarians.
• Assist in blood transfusion therapy and oxygen administration.
• Support doctors during exams, treatments, and emergency procedures.
