Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Emergency Medicine department in Chicago. The shift is 6pm–6:30am with weekend and holiday coverage required.

You will provide direct clinical care, perform exams, order tests, and collaborate with physicians while mentoring staff and contributing to quality improvement. Applicants must have a master’s degree, Illinois licensure as an APRN or PA, BLS, and emergency medicine experience; Northwestern Medicine

Qualifications

Master's degree from an accredited school/college of nursing or master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant Program.
Current Illinois RN license with APRN or PA license in Illinois; APRN/PA certification as applicable.
Privileged and credentialed through the Medical Staff Office (MSO).
BLS certification by the American Heart Association.
Emergency Medicine experience.

Responsibilities

Conducts comprehensive patient health assessments including histories and physicals.
Provides direct clinical care to patients and documents care appropriately.
Prescribes or orders medications, therapies, and diagnostic tests per privileges.
Evaluates patients and determines need for additional care.
Delivers patient and family teaching and coordinates with the care team.
Participates in quality improvement and research initiatives.
