Job summary

The J.M. Smucker Co. in Decatur, AL is hiring an Electrical & Instrumentation Technician (Nights) to support the manufacture of safe, high‑quality foods and to maintain critical equipment on the night shift.

The position operates 6:30pm–7:00am on a rotating 2-2-3 schedule, with a base rate of $40.98 per hour plus a $2.00 per hour shift differential. Responsibilities include troubleshooting electrical and instrumentation systems, performing preventive maintenance, following GMPs, documenting

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum 3 years of experience with electrical systems, PLCs, motor and motion controls, SCADA, device and information networks, sensors, instrumentation equipment for manufacturing is required.
• Willing to work a flexible schedule as needed.
• Able to read, understand, and follow SOPs, GMPs and safety policies.

Responsibilities

• Manufacture consumer foods meeting safety and quality standards.
• Follow safety policies and coach peers on safe work.
• Maintain GMP-compliant operations and sanitation standards.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair electrical, instrumentation, and automation equipment.
• Operate and troubleshoot Studio5000/Logix5000, Drives, and Ethernet/IP networks.
• Perform preventive maintenance and record-keeping for equipment.
• Mentor team members and participate in training and qualification programs.
• Lead safety, quality, or production improvement projects.
