Job summary

SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking an EKG Associate for the Nursing Float Team on the nights shift in Brooklyn, NY. The role conducts cardiac monitoring, supports nursing care, and promotes infection control with a focus on patient safety.

Required are EKG/ECG and Phlebotomy training, a high school diploma, and BLS certification. Preferred candidates have 1 year in patient care and/or PCT or Medical Assistant program training.

Qualifications

• Completed training for EKG/ECG and Phlebotomy is required.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association.
• A satisfactory equivalent combination of experience, training and education.

Responsibilities

• Conduct cardiac monitoring on the adult population.
• Perform direct nursing care activities as delegated.
• Maintain infection control measures and patient safety.
• Respond to changing needs of patient care areas and communicate effectively.
• Participate in quality improvement and unit morale initiatives.
