Job summary

Indiana University Health System in Indianapolis is seeking a part-time Night Shift patient care assistant to support the Emergency Department. You will perform both special and routine patient care procedures under the direction of the clinical nurse.

Responsibilities include transporting stable monitored and non-monitored patients, taking and recording vital signs, stocking and cleaning patient care areas, and assisting in the operation of various equipment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the AHA.
• EMT or PCA certification preferred.
• Knowledge of routine patient care procedures.
• Familiarity with standard medical equipment and supplies.
• Basic understanding of infection control.
• Knowledge of EMTALA.
• Some hospital patient care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs both special and routine patient care procedures and assists in the nursing care of the critically ill and stable patients in the Emergency Department.
• Transports stable monitored and non-monitored patients.
• Takes and records patients' vital signs.
• Stocks and cleans patient care and supply areas.
• Assists in the operation of various equipment.
