Job summary

The Portland Trail Blazers at the Rose Quarter is seeking a Night Compactor to support sustainable operations by sorting waste after daily events and ensuring a clean, safe environment for guests and staff. This role involves operating compacting machinery and assisting in event prep in a fast-paced venue setting.

You will need to be 18+, able to work late/night hours, communicate in English, and demonstrate reliable teamwork and safety.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Experience in a similar role preferred.
• Able to work late and overnight shifts.
• Able to understand and communicate conversational English.
• Demonstrate safe work habits and proper body mechanics when lifting or moving heavy objects.
• Ability to rotate duties as needed and perform other reasonable job-related duties.

Responsibilities

• Operate compacting machinery and coordinate waste and recyclable operations.
• Sort landfill, recyclable, and compostable items.
• Clean and sanitize garbage cans and gondolas.
• Maintain and clean equipment and workspaces daily.
• Perform miscellaneous tasks to assist in preparation for events.
• Respond to radio calls in a timely manner.
• Other duties as assigned.

DAY-TO-DAY:

• Operating compacting machinery, coordinating waste and recyclable operations.
• Sorting landfill, recyclable, and compostable items.
• Cleaning and sanitizing garbage cans and gondolas.
• Maintaining and cleaning equipment and workspaces daily.
• Performing miscellaneous tasks to assist in preparation for events.
• Responding to radio calls in a timely manner.
• Other duties as assigned.

WE’D LIKE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF YOU:

• Are a minimum of 18 years old.
• Have experience in a similar role in graveyard or task-based function, preferred.
• Have the ability to work late and overnight with a graveyard work schedule.
• You must be able to understand and communicate conversational English, including following verbal and written direction.
• Demonstrate effective interpersonal and oral communication skills.
• Demonstrate safe work habits and proper body mechanics when lifting or moving heavy objects.
• Have the ability to rotate duties as needed and perform other reasonable job-related duties.
