Job summary

Albany Med Health System is seeking a Clinical Nurse II for the Float Pool on night shift, 36 hours per week, at Albany, NY. The role requires a valid NYS RN license and ACLS/BLS certifications, with 1–3 years of Med-Surg or Progressive Care experience.

The nurse will implement physician orders, assess patients, manage care plans, and collaborate with the nursing team to ensure high-quality patient outcomes in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a professional nursing program (Diploma/ADN/BSN).
• Must hold current NYS Registered Nurse license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
• 1–3 years RN experience in Med-Surg or Progressive Care.
• Excellent communication, prioritization, organizational and time-management skills.
• Knowledge of quality improvement concepts and application to patient care.

Responsibilities

• Implements physician orders, administers medications, starts IVs, performs treatments and documentation as required by policy.
• Orders and interprets diagnostic tests to assess patient conditions.
• Assesses patient needs and responses to care; applies nursing judgment in care management decisions.
• Provides primary and emergency care for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses.
• Administers OTC and prescribed medications as ordered.
• Collaborates with the team to develop a Plan of Care for all patients.
• Directs ancillary staff and maintains professional nursing standards.
