Job summary

Lawrence University Department of Theatre Arts is seeking a full-time, non-exempt Security Officer for the Appleton campus. The position works 9:30pm–7:30am (weekends or Monday-Thursday shifts) and focuses on protecting students, staff, visitors, and campus properties.

Responsibilities include patrols, door checks, after-hours access, incident reporting, and coordination with campus safety teams. Requires high school diploma, weekend availability, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Willing to work weekends and holidays.
• Walk up to 9 hours of a 10-hour shift.
• Ascend/descend stairs for part of shift.
• Move quickly across campus (walk/run).
• Lift up to 40 lbs.
• MS Word & Excel knowledge.
• Maintain confidentiality of information.

Responsibilities

• Perform walking and motorized patrol of campus.
• Ensure safety of students, faculty, and staff.
• Check and lock/unlock doors at designated times.
• Provide after-hours access to buildings.
• Address safety/security issues and incidents.
• Relate emergency calls to proper personnel.
• Enforce parking regulations.
• Escort students, faculty, and staff as needed.
• Enter Work Orders into the system.
• Conduct Monthly Fire System Testing.
• Conduct Monthly Fire Extinguisher Inspections.
• Perform minor maintenance tasks.
