Job summary

Zone 4 at UNC Rex Healthcare in Raleigh seeks a Nursing Assistant I to provide a safe, supportive environment for psychiatric patients in an emergency setting. Under supervision, you will assist with activities of daily living, participate in therapeutic group sessions when directed, and help orient new patients and families to the unit while adhering to CPI and BLS requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; higher level degree may satisfy.
• Listed as Nursing Assistant I by NC DHHS and BLS/BLS CPR certified.
• CPI certification within 60 days from date of hire.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a behavioral health environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with daily living activities and care needs.
• Aids in reality orientation and behavior modification plans.
• Provide informal support and verbal de-escalation when needed.
• Document patient information and report changes to RN/physician.
• Participate in group activities and therapeutic milieu monitoring.
• Ensure patient safety and assist with admissions/orientation.
