Job summary

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) is seeking a Radiological Operations Manager to coordinate activities, develop processes, and monitor compliance for NIF radiological protection and regulatory programs. You will lead a multidisciplinary team and serve as the NIF POC for Rad/Haz programs, applying leading-edge safety principles and best practices.

This full-time, on-site role requires strong leadership, deep radiological operations expertise, and the ability to implement

Qualifications

• Master's degree in a safety, engineering discipline or related field or the equivalent combination of education and significant related experience.
• Expert level knowledge in radiological operations theory and practice (including ISMS) with demonstrated health physics expertise.
• Expert level experience in enterprise risk management across an organization.
• Extensive experience leading a team, prioritizing resources to meet schedules and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of radiological experts within NIF Radiological Operations, including RSOs and health physicists.
• Manage indirect support radiological programs such as waste management, dosimetry, and environmental support.
• Serve as Rad Ops Section Lead, ensuring 24-7 operations and radiological safety standards.
• Develop and manage compliance with NIF's Safety Basis Document (SBD) and NEPA/SWEIS requirements.
• Collaborate with the ES&H IST Team Lead to implement radiological safety program objectives.
• Establish auditable procedures for hazardous material use and maintain safety plans.
