Job summary

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory seeks NIF Laser System Operators for the Beam Control System and Injection Laser System in the NIF Control Room. You will join an operations team supporting the world’s most energetic laser system and help ensure precise alignment, timing, and pulse shaping for experiments.

Positions are full-time, on-site with a 24/7 operation and a 3/12-4/12 schedule. Requires U.S. citizenship and DOE Q clearance; post-offer drug testing is required.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Electronics Engineering Technology, Laser/Photonics Technology, or related discipline or equivalent experience.
• Experience with moderately complex electronic assembly and troubleshooting.
• Intermediate electro-mechanical knowledge and ability to solve circuitry or system challenges.
• Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
• Effective written and verbal communication and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support in design, development, and installation of moderately complex laser/optical systems.
• Perform maintenance and diagnostics of laser/optical subsystems and upgrades.
• Generate and maintain system documentation and drawings.
• Collaborate with Physics and Engineering staff on experimental setups.
• Acquire and analyze data using data acquisition systems.
• Operate subsystems via GUI to align targets, diagnostics, and laser beams.
• Produce documentation and graphics using CAD and engineering software.
