Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing and a current Texas RN license are required.
• 9 months nursing experience minimum.
• CPR – BLS certification from the American Heart Association is required.
• NICU experience and vascular access experience are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs and documents assessment of patient/family including biophysical, psychosocial, developmental, culture, spiritual, and environmental needs.
• Analyzes situations, anticipates potential problems, and detects changes in patient status.
• Re-prioritizes and updates plan of care based on new information and communicates with the health care team.
• Participates in interdisciplinary rounds and documents in the medical record.
• Assists patients/family in implementing their role in the plan of care.
• Assesses patient/family learning needs and readiness to learn.
• Demonstrates interpersonal skills with patients, families, and staff.
• Administers and documents medications and treatments timely.
• Shows willingness to acquire new knowledge and skills to improve performance.
• Participates in unit performance improvement initiatives.
